Plan a simple washing routine

Place laundry baskets where clothes naturally collect. Separate loads according to their care labels, colour and washing needs. Keep a clear route to the machine and allow enough space for its door, hoses and ventilation, following the appliance instructions.

Explore kitchen cupboard storage.

Make room to sort and fold

Use a suitable worktop or folding table for clean clothes, with a basket beneath for items waiting to be put away. A wall-mounted drying rack can free the floor when the wall and fittings can support it. Leave space for air to circulate around drying laundry.

Use shelves and baskets well

Group spare towels and linens on shelves and keep small washing accessories in labelled baskets. Store detergents securely in their original containers, away from children and pets. Start with a folding surface and two baskets. Fitted cupboards can come later if your space and budget allow.

Keep exploring.
